All Peoples Church San Diego History

Have you ever wanted to impact the world? This was the desire that brought the group of friends together that founded All Peoples Church. God was moving powerfully in the Antioch Community Church College group in Waco, Texas. At Antioch we had seen the power God working through a local church. Hundreds had come to know God personally, thousands had been transformed by God, addicts were being set free, the sick were being healed, and many were learning to live sold out for Jesus.

After almost ten years of leading the college group, Robert and Stefanie Herber felt God speak to their hearts to launch a multi-ethnic church in the heart of San Diego. They shared the dream with some close couple friends Jonathan and Suzanne Lair, Kendall and Shelly Laughlin, and Kirk and Lisa McCown as well as Joel Sanders, Abby Seibert, Yvonne Araujo and Amy Barnard who all sensed God leading them to uproot and move to the West Coast. They took a risk knowing that God would do an amazing thing.

In the Spring of January 2008 the first lifegroup was launched in the Herber home on Hewlett Dr. just one block away from San Diego State Campus. From the first day God brought together an ethnically diverse group. The group started with mostly college age people many of whom were encountering God personally for the first time. Soon people from the inner city, gang-types, homeless, skaters, and others began to join us as well. After several months we had outgrown meeting in a home and felt led to launch a public worship service.

We were graciously welcomed by the administration of Horrace Mann Middle School and had our first public gathering on June 30th of 2008. Soon families both young and old as well as many young professionals began to join us. Many youth were touched too, as the church jumped in to serve this inner city school. Since that point, the church has grown quickly to represent people of all ages, all economic strata, and numerous ethnicities.

If there is one word to define our journey it would be TRANSFORMATION. This church was started by people whose lives have been transformed by God and along the way many people from every walk of life have been changed by God. We believe that this is only the beginning and hope that you will join us on this amazing journey.
